The latest from 3D Print Force [3.17.25]

Mar 17, 2025

Sam from 3D Print Force here with a few new features and updates. It's been a week since our last update.

More model expenses details

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing you with clear and transparent financial insights, we've enhanced our model pricing feature. You can now click on either "C.O.G.S." or "Platform Fees" to access a detailed breakdown of the components that contribute to these costs. This update empowers you with real-time, actionable insights into the key factors influencing your model expenses, helping you make informed decisions with ease.

Print Farm defaults

We understand that entering model data is one of the most time-intensive steps when getting started with 3D Print Force. That’s why we’re continuously working to streamline and enhance this experience for you. Our latest improvement? Introducing "Print Farm Defaults."

You can now establish default "print preparation" and "post-print" labor times and hourly rates for your print farm. Every new model you create will automatically apply these preset values, saving you time and effort. Need flexibility? You can still adjust these values for any individual model as required.

To configure your defaults, simply navigate to Settings > Print Farm > Print Farm Default Variables.

Have ideas for additional default variables you’d like to see? We’d love to hear from you—reach out to us at sam.erickson@3dprintforce.com with your suggestions!

Target profit

A user suggestion that we thought was really great was to allow users to set their target profit numbers. Under Print Farm settings you can now set your "target" profit for your PPP, PPH, and Gross Profit Margin.

This new update works hand in hand with your model page to color your profit numbers.

Any profit values less then $0 will be displayed in Red

Any profit values greater then $0 but less then your target amount will be displayed in Grey

Any profit values equal or greater then your target amount will be displayed in Green

To set your default values head over to Settings > Print Farm > Print Farm target profit

State sales tax

We’ve introduced a new "Default Sales Tax" value to help estimate platform fees more accurately. Whether you like it or not, most platforms calculate their fees based on the "gross" order value—meaning the total amount, including sales tax.

For example, Etsy applies a 3% processing fee to the full "order total," which includes the item price (after any discounts), shipping costs, and sales tax.

In this example above the buyer paid $2.38 in sales taxes and Etsy charged this seller the 3% processing fee on the order total of $31.21.

In 3D Print Force, this new "State Sales Tax" value is designed for estimation purposes only. Since we can’t predict every buyer’s location, this feature provides a helpful starting point. But here’s the good news: for our Growth and Business plan users, platform fees for each order received are automatically adjusted to reflect the buyer’s actual sales tax rate—no guesswork needed.

To set your default sales tax value, go to Settings > Print Farm > Update Print Farm Details.

We know this can get a little technical, so if you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out or drop a note in our Discord community—we’re here to help!
